Best of 2012

2012 has been an interesting year, but a pretty good one. As we close in on the new year, here is my list of the best and most interesting things of 2012. Enjoy the list and all the best for 2013.

Christmas 2012

For the first time in nearly a decade, I celebrated Christmas with my family. It was a traditional holiday, reminding me a great deal of my childhood. The house was beautifully decorated by my mother; there were presents under the tree (Santa still comes to my mother's house); and, we ate the traditional turkey dinner in the evening. Simply wonderful time. Here are some of the photos I took during the four days I was celebrating.

The Best Christmas Movie

“Every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings.”

This movie is perfect. Every year I sob all the way through it. sunbunny, another writer on Billie's site, and I have been exchanging emails recently and she told me she expected to see that quote in my review. I’m happy to do so, not only because I like to do what my friends ask me to do, but also because she’s right. This movie is perfect. It’s not only my favorite Christmas movie, it’s one of my three favorite movies of all time.

Thoughts on Turning Fifty

Today is my fiftieth birthday. I am struggling with the concept as I only feel about twenty-five. Reaching this milestone has made me very introspective and, as they say that with age comes wisdom, the following are the ten most important things I have learned in the past fifty years:

Lego Christmas Village

I have always loved doing puzzles, a trait I inherited from my mother.  She and I have been known to sit down at a jigsaw and get up days later.  In fact, one of my favorite memories of my mother is around a jigsaw puzzle.

Bethany Beach: My Home Town

In its December edition, Delaware Today magazine did a Bucket List in which they listed the 50 Things Every Delawarean Must Do. I was so inspired by this list that I not only resolved to do as many of the 50 as possible, I added to the list using various books and pamphlets I have picked up since August. My Bucket List has 79 entries on it, impressive when one considers that our Small Wonder is only 96 miles from point to point. Now, granted, there is some overlap; but, I wanted to ensure that everything I have thought about doing was written down somewhere.
